If you are looking to immerse yourself in French culture, spend some time thinking about how best to do that. It might be easy to live like a tourist in a big city, but it could be harder to “immerse” yourself in French culture. On the other hand, the slower pace of life in a small village might enable you to get to know a few of the locals. Here are some issues to consider:

- Lots to do
- May not need a car
- Greater access to expat community
- Could be harder to meet locals and develop friendships
- Easy to live like a tourist, could be harder to “immerse” yourself in French culture.

- Get to know the locals
- Walk around town
- Must drive / take bus to other cities/attractions
- You could be the only foreigner
